Letter to Sophia

Dear Miss Sophia,

You are growing so fast I am amazed everyday. You are so much heavier than you where just a few months ago. Lately you have been very clingy with mommy. Wanting me to hold you and me play with you. You have been sleeping in my arms for almost 3 hours yesterday. You don't want Tata or Baka, just mama.

I think I found your tickleish spot and I love to hear your belly laughs. It's on your neck/collar bone and every time I gently kiss you start laughing hysterically. You also love when you are on your mat and Apollo is hitting you with his tail. Your laugh is amazing. If I could just bottle it up everyday I would never be sad or frustrated. Your cuteness is like a cure for sadness.

I love the nighttime routine with you more and more every night. You are getting used to the water in your tub. We have took out the insert. This scares mama a little but daddy washed you last night and noticed you like to play in the water. Float a little. I laughed as you where playing in the water testing your limits. I can watch you for hours. Then after the bath you get a little fussy and I start singing to you softly. You instantly watch me and relax. You really make me happy to be your mama and helping that maternal instinct come out. I love you sweet girl.

With the deepest love imaginable,
Mama

Picture of you trying to stand on your own. The daycare says you did it 5 times for them last week. Mama and Daddy are so proud of you.

TN Family Visit

Last weekend was a whirlwind of fun and excitement with the our family from TN as well as cousin Jennifer and soon-to-be cousin Will Smith. We had a blast. We took our TN family to Fair park in Dallas. They watched a IMAX movie about Alaska and my mom and I waited in the lobby. It was sorta rainy. I would have loved to take some pictures but rain and mud isn't fun. Sophia really was pretty good for the most part but started to get restless towards the end. She just needed to nap.

Then we stopped at Half price books and then Whole foods. We where running a little behind so our trip was cut short. We needed to jet home to see because Jennifer and Will had a arrived at my house and we where in Dallas. I felt a little bad that we got caught up in Dallas and had them waiting. Luckily Jennifer and Will forgave us quick as they toured the infamous IKEA.

When we returned to the house we had to make the lasagna. Luckily Sandro and I spent a lot of time making the sauce the weekend before so really it just had to be assembled. My mom is a pro so she took care of that. Though try not to ask her why the lasagna looked watery after cooking only half way. You may be get snapped at! ;)

On Sunday Katrice, my talented Vegan cousin, made us some yummy Vegan pancakes and smoothies. They where so yummy. My pancakes never come out nearly as fluffy. We had planned to do Bluebonnet pictures but because of the weather (shakes fist at the sky!) we decided to go to my inlaws and take them in their beautiful yard. They turned out okay I guess but not exactly what I envisioned. I will take what I can get. Then we split up and half of us went the Fort worth zoo and the other half chilled at the house. Lets just say it was a great weekend and I loved spending time with the family. We will have to do that again sometime.

Letter to Sophia

Dear Sophia,

My sweetie pie, Lately I have noticed that during the week because we have such little time together that I think that you may not like me as much as say Tata (Daddy in Croatian ) or your Baka (grandmother in croatian). Of course that is really stupid because I am the Mama and of course you like me, it’s just that you prefer to cry with me to tell me your unhappy. I guess you are just more comfortable with me and know that no matter how much your cry I am there to comfort you.

On the weekends however, you actually are in the best mood and love to get Mama’s or Daddy’s attention. You just smile all the time and like to giggle when you play with us. Like last night while Tata was doing the floors and you and I laying in my bed and you where just smiling and grabbing Mama’s face. Nearly pulling my entire lip off. So I started singing and you just gave me a ton of big belly laughs each time I would start. Over and over again. You couldn’t get enough. I just soak in moments like this and I hope I can remember these precious details.

Almost every night before bath time Tata takes/steals you to give Mama a small break. He sings to you in Croatian and holds you in his arms. You fall asleep on his chest. You can see that little glimmer in his eye and you know he loves his baby girl so much. Days like these are short. Not too much longer before you will not be able to sleep on his chest. I tell him to soak it all in. Soon enough you will be a big girl. Your amazing babygirl and we love you so much. You have changed us for the better and without a doubt are loved more than anything in the world.

With the Deepest love imaginable,
Mama

Easter Weekend

What a crazy weekend. We went to Canton Texas and walked around. I didn't buy very much. I bought some super cute stuff for Sophia. I really wanted to get a sippy cup with her name on it but it was yellow..my least favorite color. Maybe I will look for one online. Sophia did get a little over heated in her car seat and had a bit of a heat rash. Poor girl is not used to the Texas heat. But she looks stinking cute regardless.

Easter was Zdenko's birthday. So we went over for lunch and stay until 9:00 p.m. Tencia highlighted my hair. Sophia did not like how this impacted her schedule and for the first time and a LONG time she had a night of long cries. We did the normal bedtime routine and everything. But as soon as I laid her down she was crying hysterically. She was so overtired from the day that she just could not go to sleep. We tried everything. I think it may have been all the juice that she had so I gave her some gas drops and daddy finally got her down. Obviously this was a result of to much fun on Easter. She slept a ton at daycare the next day and was back to her happy self by Monday afternoon. However, mommy wasn't back to normal and got some kind of weird bug that gave me fever and the shakes. My temp was over 101 for most of the day. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics and I started them last night. They do make me a little groggy. Hopefully I will return to my healthy self soon.

So far Sophia has tried the following: Banana (she has a love/hate relationship with those), apples, carrots, rice cereal, sweet potato (trying this week) and oatmeal cereal. Last night she actually grabbed for the brown rice we had a dinner and ate two big handfuls. Pictures next week. She has a thing for wanting to feed herself. It has to be her idea or it's not going to be fun at all.

So pics of the week:

Grandpa...you talk to much!
Nana thanks for the card. It tastes so good. To bad mama took it away.
Daddy did the same thing a few weeks ago. Like Father like son.
I want cake. Stop with the gross cereal already.
Our Easter eggs. Painted by Grandma Vesna and poorly customized by Mama.
Daddy...your so silly!
Love the shoes Nana!
MMMM Cake. Yeah Zdenko's favorite apple cake.
I know I am beautiful. I can't help it.
Sophia's 1st Easter basket.
